Real-World Learning in Action: Hands-On Experiences Without Leaving Campus (Part 1 of 2) LIMITED
Tuesday July 15, 2025 10:30am - 12:00pm EDT
What role can education play in solving the climate crisis? This workshop will challenge participants to answer this question through hands-on nature journaling, curricula/school programming analysis and exploration, and background of the research that supports this work. Participants will practice integrating Environmental literacy into the standards and programs that take place at their school, to weave environmental literacy into their pre-existing work, rather than starting from scratch. This workshop seeks to support educators and administrators alike in recognizing opportunities to link nature connection with the standards and curricula they already deliver, so students can leave their schools and organizations as environmentally literate global citizens.

I would love to explore all things nature with you! I'd also love to support you in integrating interdisciplinary environmental literacy into your school or district, whatever that means for you.

Ulster BOCES Students Share How VR Simulations Enhance Workforce Skills
Wednesday July 16, 2025 9:30am - 10:30am EDT
Join students from Ulster BOCES in a groundbreaking session showcasing the power of virtual reality/mixed reality (VR/XR) and simulations in fostering deeper learning and preparing students for diverse career pathways. This entirely student-presented session will demonstrate how hands-on practice with skills, collaboration, and knowledge construction are enhanced through immersive technologies in fields such as automotive, health sciences, and electrical.
Our North Star Educational Commitments at Ulster BOCES are designed to cultivate an environment where all learners can develop their unique self, contribute to community, develop their capacity, and engage in continuous cycles of inquiry. Through the lens of glasses-free XR and simulation, our students will illustrate how these commitments come to life, empowering them to explore, learn, and grow.

This session offers a unique opportunity for educational leaders and teams to witness firsthand how student-led innovation and technology drive profound changes in learning and skill development, aligning with the principles of Deeper Leading & Learning. You'll gain insights into how these cutting-edge tools are helping students discover their unique selves, contribute to their communities, build their capacities, and engage in continuous cycles of inquiry.
