This will be a follow-up to the keynote presentation. In this session, Yong Zhao will work together with the audience to dive deeper into the new learning paradigm and explore how personalized learning can be realized in the classroom.

Climate Change feels like a big cloud of wild weather that covers our future, which many fear will be driven by artificially intelligent programs and machines. But wait, we have a say! This workshop will utilize a story circle to unlock the wisdom we all have to help us formulate concerns and ideas for meeting this moment as a seed for future flourishing. As a participant in this workshop, you will be introduced to the story circle methodology to build trust, community, and curiosity in your classroom for tackling challenges that impact our ability to be resilient.

In order to effectively safeguard students, staff and our communities it is important to fully understand the dynamics around the threats that face schools. Currently, most efforts to combat violence in schools are “protection” and/or “preparedness” based. While these measures can certainly be effective and necessary, they are often reactionary. After each devastating violent incident at a school, it is often showcased that the perpetrator had a long and complex history of incidents that generated concern but that did not result in pro-active preventative interventions. This Den Talk will focus on understanding how individuals become radicalized, the pathway they follow towards violence and how schools can better implement prevention methodologies to get these individuals the help that they need before something tragic occurs.

Learn about Monticello Central School District’s journey to successfully implement best practices for teaching phonemic awareness and phonics. This session will explore how a school designed and refined its approach to these foundational literacy skills, leading to significant improvements in student literacy outcomes. Participants will gain valuable insights into evidence-based strategies, curriculum alignment, teacher training, and progress monitoring while having an opportunity to reflect on their own current practices. The team will also share their approach to managing change by systematically layering on one component at a time, including leadership practices, individual grade-level support, and intervention systems.

In The Two Minute Culture Test, we introduce a powerful framework that allows leaders to quickly assess their team’s culture from a third-point perspective.
