About me
Hi! I'm Camille Licate! My goal: To unite kids and adults into a collective force for positive environmental change!
A native of Ashtabula, Ohio, I'm an engaging speaker, inspiring educator, published author, and Founder of Kids for Positive Change. A professional modern dancer turned actor/writer, I danced with The Martha Graham Dance Company; starred in multiple television commercials and indie films; made my screenwriting debut with the animated children’s film, “Izzie’s Way Home;” and authored the self-help book, “Small Shoes,” and children’s book, “Bree and Me : A True Story of a Rescue Rooster’s Journey.”
A dedicated animal and earth advocate, I worked for Orangutan Foundation International and traveled to Camp Leakey, in Borneo, Indonesia, to film and study the endangered orangutan; volunteered with the Georgia Southern Sea Turtle Rescue Team, on St. Catherine’s Island, GA; and was a ten-year volunteer at The California Wildlife Center, in LA, CA.
After searching far and wide for my true mission-driven life purpose, I found it through amplifying children’s voices for a better world! In 2017, I founded Kids for Positive Change, a multimedia educational company designed to empower kids (and adults) to take positive action for animals, people, and the planet! My highly sought after interactive programs and project-based curriculum, with its five-step proven formula to help educators, help kids, help the planet, has received high marks from Washington Irving School, The Calhoun School, Horace Mann School, Columbia’s Summer Extension program, and Pelham School District, in New York; Ashtabula Area City Schools, Ohio University's Green Project Camp, and Buckeye Schools, in Ohio; and Mercyhurst University, in Erie, PA.
My work has been recognized by Dr. Jane Goodall, the Roots and Shoots Youth Movement, Martha Holden Jennings Foundation, The Pollination Project, and TeachKind, PETA's education arm.
To expand my advocacy spark, I got back in front of the camera with kids from Ashtabula County, Erie, PA, and New York, NY, and created and produced the PBS television series, Kids for Positive Change, currently airing on WQLN PBS, in Erie, PA.
I am a member of National Wildlife Federation’s Climate Resiliency Education Task Force, and a Climate Reality Leader, trained by former vice president, Al Gore. I serve on the board of Kent State University’s Rising Scholars Program, and am the recipient of Mercyhurst University’s Distinguished Alumni award, for Outstanding Service to the Community.
My pride and joy are my rescue dogs Walter, Claire, Carmel, and Maya, and my rescue roosters Bree and Bodhi.
My three favorite things: Dogs in coats, airport reunions, and vegan donuts.
